a boy + spray paint + a lie

What do you get when you combine a 10 year old boy, a lie and a can of red spray paint? A mess! A disgusting display of vulgar words and drawings for all to see in our neighborhood. Let's just say, it's a good thing he has other parents. Gracious!!

He was caught, literally red-handed, rebuked and
his parents talked to about the event. (So glad I didn't have to do that.) But, the red paint and the nasty words remain.  Eventually, they will be covered over with more paint. No matter how hard he scrubbed, the red paint remains. It can't be undone, only covered over.

As I watched this boy try to scrub the red mess off the walls (under the watchful eye of our landlord), it reminded me of words. Words can build up or destroy. Once words are spoken, they can't be unspoken. Just like the paint. It's done. Words are powerful. Words can hurt.

Forgiveness can be granted, but the stain/mark of our words remain.
It's a good reminder for me to be more careful with my words.

Note: If you want to know what the lie was, comment below then share this with a friend.
I will email you "the rest of the story" regarding the lie.
