"We're only here for a little while
And God gives us only so much precious time..."
Yesterday, was Memorial Day (originally called Decoration Day) in the USA. It's a federal holiday usually on the last Monday in May. It's a time when we are to remember those who died serving in the armed forces of America.
It's even more than that really. For my family, it was also a day to remember family who had passed away. We would visit their graves and place flowers on their headstones. We would remember them, we would talk of the good times, the funny times and just how much we missed them. Our "visit" would end with a few pictures snapped of our visit to their grave.
Now, as I am older, it has even more meaning. Those visits now include the grave of my Dad. Yesterday, my Mom, brother and sister in law all made the drive, laid the flowers, took the pictures and talked of our loved ones. Without me. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal. But it stinks when you are living across an ocean on those special days.
Spend the moments that you have, telling and showing those in your life that you love them. No one has ever regretted giving one too many hugs! Is that even possible?!
Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
